Chapter
1
On a beautiful sunny day, where the sun shines over the city turning it bright with its golden light. I'm going out to meet my precious girl-she's my fiancé- After meeting her and falling in love with her, I can't but see that the world is so beautiful. I don't know what to do without her and the most amazing thing is we're getting married next month! How exciting is that! Anyways, I got dressed wearing my favorite red, short sleeved shirt that is a bit tight around my body revealing some of my muscles with black jeans. I combed my dark, short silky hair to the side, which she thinks I look cute like that. I have stubble but I'm not going to shave I don't want to be late. I took my keys of my apartment and walked out. I know that today will be amazing!
I walked to our meeting place that is at Starbucks. I stopped walking when I saw her and thought she's prettier than yesterday. I stared at her for moments, until she noticed me and walked towards me smiling her shiny beautiful smile.
"Hey." She said giggling.
"You're very pretty today." I smiled at her softly, while wrapping my arms around her waist kissing her cheek.
"You already know that I'm not, Jake." she said moving closer to me.
"But, that's not what I think, Lucy." I held her closer to me, afraid she'll disappear if I let go.
"What did you plan for today? I bet it's something amazing like you." She stood on her tiptoes and softly kissed my cheek.
"Well... It's a surprise." I grinned at her.
"That's not fair! You have to tell me!" She insisted while giggling.
"It's so fair." I chuckled. "Now, come on." I held her small hand tangling my fingers with hers.
As we started walking, we stopped to cross the street. When the walking sign turned green, we continued walking, as she insisted on knowing what's the surprise. Suddenly, we heard a speeding car and seems like it won't stop for us. I grabbed Lucy to walk faster, but she stumbled on her feet and fell down. I helped her up, but it was too late to move. The speeding car hit Lucy making her fly a few yards away. A warm liquid splattered on my face and clothes. I slowly touched the warm liquid on my face and saw that it's blood. Lucy's blood. People started crowding over her body, but I just stood there not believing what just happened. Someone touched my shoulder taking me back to reality. I looked behind me and saw that a guy with gentle green grayish eyes and pitch black short hair.
"Come." He said.
I couldn't think at all, my mind was blank or frozen. I just followed him and saw that he's taking me to Lucy's body. When I got closer, I saw how horrible she looks. Her beautiful face bruised, broken, covered with blood. Her arms and legs are twisted in an abnormal angles. Lucy's dead, my sweet Lucy is gone, my beloved fiancé is forever gone, I can't accept this, I will never accept this. The guy with the green grayish eyes was staring at me. The way he looked at me, made me think that he knows I'm beginning to drown in despair.
He talked to his friends that suddenly were standing there and gesturing to me. They're talking about me, I thought. His friends went over to Lucy's body and covered it with one of the guy's jackets and carried her.
"No." I whispered. "No! No one takes her away! She's not dead!" I yelled at them and everyone stared at me with pity eyes. I don't care, she's not dead, I thought. Suddenly, someone hit the back of my neck and everything went black.
I opened my eyes and saw a ceiling. I sat up quickly and the moment I did, I wished I didn't. Sharp pain hits my head. Where am I? I thought. All around me is so dark. I got up slowly this time and walked around looking for the lights switch. A sudden bang happened when the door was slammed open. I jumped a little for how frightening the sound was like a gun was shot. What the hell? I thought. Someone turned on the lights, well not a light but a lonely bulb. The room is like a basement: so old, dusty, no windows, and made of wood that'd work out. Like any second the basement might fall on us. There is a pattern drawn by an ink on the floor. Weird. 4 men walked in wearing black cloaks and a hoodie covering their faces. They surrounded me and looking straight at me, which gave me the creeps.
"Who are you?" I said gently not wanting to risk provoking them.
"We are what you desire for." A deep voice said coming out from one of them.
"What do you mean by what I desire for? Just tell me who you are!" I started to feel irritated for fear getting through me.
"We are here to make your wish come true." They talked in unison hearing different kinds of voices.
"Making my wish come true? Hah! Don't make me laugh. Stop with your bullshits and just fucking tell me who you are!" I clenched my hands into fists reading to fight them. Until 2 more men come in, and one of them was holding something covered with white sheet. I narrowed my eyes at it and I can't shake the feeling that it's Lucy. The 2 men laid the thing in the middle of the pattern and left silently. Seems like those men are one of them, I thought.
"What's that?" My voice sounded hoarse for how much I feel that it's Lucy.
"Come. You shall see." They said in unison, as they slowly moved to the thing that's lying on the floor.
All the candles have lit once they surrounded the lying thing. I slowly walked towards it afraid something invisible might appear. As I got closer, the pattern became clearer now: a star with a circle in the middle and weird writings are written around the star as a shape of a circle. The writing is like Arabic or Hebrew. I stopped moving, not wanting to cross the pattern and get close.
"Don't be afraid now. Come closer." One of the men said.
"I'm not afraid." I narrowed my eyes at them.
When I got closer, the thing that is covered is right in front of me and those men are around me.
"Look closely." The guy on my eggy said. He uncovered the thing and as soon as my eyes settler on what it is, I couldn't help but scream on top of my lungs.
"Nooo!" I fell down on my knees as I stared at Lucy. Her beautiful face is still crushed, the chocolate brown eyes that makes me see my whole world in them are closed, her soft, chestnut wavy long hair is all tangled and sticky from blood. Her cute clothes of a pink skirt and a long sleeve shirt with a brown fluffy kitten that she thought it's cute are now all stained with Crimson blood. I got up filled with rage willing to kill anyone who crossed my path. The man on my right held both of my hands pulling them behind my back powerfully. I groaned from the pain, it's like he's going to rip my arms off of my body. Damn, he's too strong, how is that possible?"
"Calm down and we shall explain everything to you." The man whose intention is to rip my arms off said.
"Does that include who you really are?" I said through gritted teeth.
"If that will please you, then yes." He said letting go of my arms. I stretched my arms to make sure they're not ripped off.
